Homemade shower scrub cleaner – Easy to make
This homemade shower scrub cleaner is so easy to make! It only contains three ingredients, cleans well, and does not leave strong odors.
Usually, I like to clean everything with all-purpose cleaners. But for hard stains, I like to use a scrub cleaner.
As we continued our journey to a more natural way of living, I decided to make my own shower scrub cleaner. I’m always trying to find eco-friendly ingredients that will do the job, and this was a winner.
My original method of cleaning my shower was with dish soap and baking soda. Unfortunately, the odor from the dish soap was really strong, and it was not eco-friendly. Living in a small space and not being able to open the windows as much during the winter, allow the concentration of the odor to stay longer in our home. So, I decided to look for more natural alternatives.
I did try many different methods I found online. They were great, but some of them still have strong odors. So, I finally tried the one I made, and I was really happy with the results.
The Ingredients
Baking Soda: I use baking soda in so many ways! From making trash can deodorant to my powder laundry detergent. We all know the benefits of baking soda to fight odors, but it’s also good for cleaning and also creates a gentle scrub to this mix.
Castile Soap: This soap is more eco-friendly and super versatile. I use it in different homemade products, including my foaming hand soap.
Essential oils: I like to use castile soap without fragrance so I can add the aroma and quantity desired from my essential oils. I like to use lavender essential oil in most of my homemade products.
How do I use this scrub cleaner?
- I mix one tablespoon of the scrub cleaner into two cups of filtered water in a small container. This is to clean one bathtub.
- Then apply it with a soft brush.
- I let it stay for a few minutes and rinse it well with water.
- To take any extra mix left on the surface, I use a damp cloth. I would avoid using this mix on marble surfaces.
