As we continued creating Crafts from recycled materials, this beautiful idea of a yearly calendar telling a kind daily message came to mind.
This craft brings a way to say a positive word or phrase that brings joy to the person it is intended to. This can be done for any family member, from our grandparents to our kids. There is always a moment when a kind word will lighten even more our day.

Thinking about my daughter, I thought of adding an extra incentive by adding something inside they like. It could be candy, chocolate, a small toy, etc. The beauty of making our own calendar is that we can choose what to add to each day.

Can I use this calendar for a countdown celebration?
Yes, this calendar can also be added to any countdown celebration. You can customize it by adding some decorations base on the celebration, adding them around the calendar.

How do I make this Kindness Calendar?
Collect paper tubes. Thirty-one of them to cover each day of the month.
Cut 1/2 inch all around the edge. Fold the edges inwards and glue them to keep the shape.
Stack the paper tubes to create a form of a triangle. Glue them together.
After the triangle is assembled, add a cotton cord to the borders of the tubes.
Print your phrases or words, and cut them, making sure you have extra space on the paper to glue them to the paper tubes.
Cover the outside with paper to cover the brown of the paper tubes.
Fill each day with nice surprises!
Useful Tips
- I used hot glue for the entire project because it dries quickly and is stronger than glue sticks.
- The fillings, It doesn’t need to be sweets necessarily. You can be creative; maybe you like to add small crayons, one color each day.
- Adding Jute to the front of the paper tube may hide the paper tube’s look.
- The cotton cord can be added before or after assembling the triangle with the paper tubes.
