Eco-friendly Mother’s day gift ideas
Looking for a special gift for this Mother’s Day? I will share some Eco-friendly Mother’s Day gift ideas that are beautiful and practical.
Moms are on the go 24/7. On mother’s Day, we dedicate a day to demonstrating how much we love her and thank her for all she does. But it doesn’t need to be once a year; we can take any day to demonstrate our love to her.
These eco-friendly Mother’s Day gift ideas will not only make mom happy but also Mother Earth!
Eco-friendly Mother’s Day Cards from recycled paper
I remember going to the store every year trying to find the perfect card with the perfect message for my mom, it took me hours reading all the cards, and the ones I liked were so expensive.
My daughter likes to draw; I still have some of the handmade cards she made for Mother’s Day when she was little. She loves to add sparkle, stickers, and dried flowers to the cards. Now that I’m a mom, I know how much it means to me to have a handmade card. The time and love they put into it are priceless.
Imagine making these cards with recycled paper! That will be a double gift for our mom and mother earth. Every time we reuse or repurpose any material help to reduce the amount of waste we produce.
Also, Handmade Paper from Recycle paper is an excellent craft for the entire family. These Mother’s Day cards can be personalized with the color or message of your preference. You can even add a photo to it.

Nothing better than a relaxing day for mom. I love soaking my feet in warm water with lavender bath salt while reading my favorite book with soft music in the background.
Homemade products are great because we can personalize them with natural ingredients as we know our mom’s needs. We can also add her favorite aroma with essential oils. If you prefer to buy them instead of making them, look for products with natural ingredients and eco-friendly packages.
For a relaxing ambiance, beeswax and vegan candles are great alternatives if she likes candles.
Gift cards
As moms, we always make sure everyone in the house has everything they need, and sometimes we forget about ourselves. Gift cards are a great git for moms because they let her enjoy something that maybe she would not get otherwise.
Also, the gift card includes the time off to take care of herself. Let her enjoy an afternoon of relaxation at a nail salon or a hair make-over. Maybe she likes to go shopping at her favorite store and have the opportunity to buy something that she really needs.
Plants instead of flowers
What can I say about flowers? I love them all!!! But better yet, I like them when they come in a planter. Cut flowers damage pretty quickly. Plants are an excellent present because they will bring joy for a longer period of time. It would get extra special if you or your kids planted the flower from seed.
Also, mom can add the plant to the garden or keep them indoors. I got these mini roses as an early gift for mother’s day. I will keep them indoors for a few more days, and then I will add them to my balcony garden.
Another great gift for the gardeners is buying a planter (or having your kids decorate a terra cotta planter) and buying beautiful flower seeds for mom to grow. This year I’m planning to grow zinnias! I found a great tutorial on how to grow zinnias from seeds.
Family Photo
This is a lovely idea. Setting up a photoshoot is a beautiful gift that will create a memory for the entire family. Kids grow up so fast; I like to make one of these once a year!
You can hire a professional or do it yourself. I like to use my camera phone with a tripod. We try to coordinate our clothes and pick beautiful outdoor scenery on a beautiful sunset. Everything is about the moments we share.
Kids craft
I remember when my daughter was little, she once made jewelry with candy for Mother’s Day. That was fun, she ate half of the candy, and the other half went to my necklace. These are precious moments.
Crafts are the best because kids can put their imagination and creativity to work. Better yet, if they use or reuse materials to make those crafts. There are many beautiful eco-friendly craft ideas that you can work with.
Last year, my daughter and I made beautiful flower vases from paper tubes that will be a great craft for Mother’s Day. Fridge Magnets to add pictures or notes are lovely too. And what about a heart made with wool felt that can be personalized in different ways.
Clothes made with eco-friendly materials
If you know what mom needs, and are looking to buy her clothes, try to look for eco-friendly alternatives.
This is easier to find nowadays. More companies are coming together to bring more eco-friendly designs. I have seen my favorite stores having a new variety of beautiful designs made with eco-friendly materials.
Also, it would be a good idea to leave a gift receipt in case the size is not the proper one. This is part of my minimalism learnings; buying things that we need and fit our lifestyle.
Cook a special dinner
The kitchen is a special place for families. It is where the action happens on every special occasion. Moms are always in the kitchen, ensuring everyone is eating as healthy as possible. This gift can be by cooking with mom or cooking for mom.
I love when my daughter cooks with me. I can teach her grandma’s recipes and spend a beautiful time together. Making a special dinner for mom will bring the family together. The menu can be as simple as a Green Salad with Strawberries or a Fennel and Mushroom Soup. And let’s not forget about the dessert! We love to make Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Ganache with my mom’s recipe.
I hope you like these Eco-friendly Mother’s Day gift ideas. Wising a beautiful Mother’s Day to all the moms in the world!
Love all of these ideas. Thank you!
Thank you so much Dawn! I’m glad you like them!
