I have to say pumpkin pie is one of my favorite desserts ever!!! I’m always waiting for the Fall season to arrive to see all the beautiful pumpkins sold at the supermarket. Being one of my favorite desserts, I make them more than once during the fall season. This delicious homemade dessert is made from scratch.
Why do I use fresh pumpkins?
This recipe is easy to make and always gets people to ask for more. Family and friends always ask what the secret is, but there is no real secret; I just try to use as many organic ingredients as possible and use fresh pumpkins. That’s what makes the delicious flavor. Also, fresh pumpkins do not contain any additives or preservatives.
Can I use a canned pumpkin puree?
Yes, you can always use a canned pumpkin puree; just make sure that the ingredients say pure pumpkin.
How do I find fresh pumpkins at the end of November?
In September, I made a post called ” Delicious pumpkin and carrot soup,” I mentioned a great tip in which I peeled, cut, and frozen fresh pumpkin to have it ready for my following recipe. I still have three big bags of fresh pumpkin in my freezer. Also, I try to buy pumpkins at the end of October; this way, they can last uncut until the mid-to-end of November.
What crust do I use for this fresh pumpkin pie?
Because everyone likes different crusts, I decided to mention three alternatives:
- Oatmeal crust: You can find the full recipe in the “Mini Fruit Tart with oatmeal crust” post.
- Graham style cracker crumbs Gluten-free
- Ready to use pie crust
