I love all seasons of the year as each one has its beauty. So I wanted to create these four-season flower vases to highlight each season at home.
We can use and reuse many materials at home to make art. While doing this project, I remembered that I had a glitter paper I got two years ago for my daughter’s birthday party decoration. Reusing materials you have at home helps to reduce waste and save money!
Also, bringing natural materials for decoration help to reduce the number of chemicals we accumulate at home, it’s cost-effective, and we help our mother earth by using eco-friendly materials.
This craft is so easy to make! Kids will enjoy going outside and finding all the beautiful materials of fall or any other season to decorate their vases. A great way to use their imagination!
What do I need to make these eco-friendly flower vases?
Materials
- Paper tubes
- Hot glue machine or school glue
- Hot Glue Stick
- Metric ruler
- Scissors
- Natural findings or any material found at home.
- Paint
- Paper or ribbon to decorate (optional)
How to make these eco-friendly flower vases with paper tubes?
Make lines on the paper tubes 1/4 inch wide. Cut them to create a base for the flower vase.
Paint the tube and cardboard cut in white. Cut 1/2 inch all around the base.
Fold the edges inward.
Cover the paper tube.
Cut circles of the paper you are using to glue it to the bottom of the base. This will make the base stronger.
Fold the cardboard cut in half and glue them together. Attach the base to the tube. Now, have fun decorating your flower vase!
Flower Vase Spring Design
For the spring design, I used natural dried eucalyptus branches and dried rosebud I got from our own Rose plant at home. You can use any dried flowers and sticks from your garden. You can also add moss for a greener touch.
Flower Vase Summer Desing
I use a starfish I had for years from our wedding anniversary for the summer design and add a tiny sparkle gem in the middle. Also, you can use seashells or maybe want to go citrus with dried orange and lemon slices.
Flower Vase Fall Design
For the Fall Design, I used a flower my husband bought me a few weeks ago, and it dried beautifully. You can also use maple leaves, acorns, dried wheat stalks, or straw. Also, you can cover the tube with burlap instead of paper. This can be used for your Thanksgiving table decor.
Flower Vase Winter Desing
I used pine needles and tiny pine cones I found around our neighborhood for the winter design. You can also use small sticks, dried leaves, cinnamon sticks, or dried winter berries decoration. You can cover the tube with birch bark log peels as well. This can be used to decorate your Christmas dinner table.
More Ideas
The ideas are unlimited; you can also use these bases for Halloween! In this case, I added some golden stripes to the tube base, cotton, and a couple of fake spiders I have at home. You can also paint mini ghosts or candy corn.
Useful Tips
- I didn’t have enough dried flowers at home when I was making these vases, but I will recommend using dried flowers instead of natural ones for this project because they are less heavy.
- To keep the bases firm, add a few small rocks inside the tube.
- I just mentioned a few, but there are unlimited natural materials we can use for this project, including cotton ribbons.
- You can also use school glue for this craft which will be better for small kids.
