Easy to make Eco-friendly Valentine’s Crafts

On Valentine’s Day, we celebrate love and friendship. In this post, I will share three easy to make eco-friendly Valentine’s crafts ideas made with recycled, eco-friendly, or natural materials. A fun craft to make with your kids.

My daughter and I love to make crafts. The time we shared is priceless. She helps me decorate the house, and we continue making memories every year. Because we love making crafts, our craft drawers are overfilled with so much stuff.

You may recognize some of the materials I used in the previous crafts in the following pictures. As part of my zero waste journey, when I start a new craft project, the first place to look is the materials I already have at home.

Eco-friendly Valentine gift craft with Paper Tubes

We used the paper tube from the kitchen paper towel and cut it in half for this project.

Materials

• Scissors
• Tape
• Paper tube
• Cotton bakers twine
• Tissue Paper
• Sweets

1. Place the chocolates inside the tube.
2. Wrap the tube with tissue paper and secure it with tape.
3. Cut the ribbons and close the ends

Useful tips and ideas

• You can use different kinds of paper to wrap the paper tube like gift paper, kraft paper, or even printer paper in which your kids can draw or paint a beautiful valentine’s design.
• Insert stickers or small crayons instead of chocolate. Make sure it is age-appropriate.
• You can write a nice message on the cover of the paper tube.

Valentine’s garland made with Carboard

I reuse boxes from the ones I get in the mail from my online orders.

Materials

• Cardboard
• Scissors
• Cotton Cord
• Hole paper punch
• School Glue
• Cotton lace ribbon
• Cotton bakers twine
• Paper clips

1. Print a cut-out paper heart to trace the shape. Cut the cardboard.
2. Use the school glue to attach the ribbon to the edges. Use paper clips to fasten the ribbon until dry.
3. Using a hole paper punch open two holes in the upper part of the heart.
4. Slide the cotton cord through the holes.
5. Draw the letters with the school glue and attach the cotton baker twine.

Useful Tips

1. You can use different kinds of colors to make the center letters.
2. Use ribbons that you may have at home.
3. You can make this garland with paper instead of cardboard.

Valentine’s wooden circle magnets

We reuse materials we already have at home and got some natural materials to create this project.

Materials

• Natural Wood slices
• Magnets
• Natural Wooden pegs
• Fabric flowers
• Felt Sheets
• Natural finding
• Hot glue machine or school glue
• Hot Glue Stick
• Scissors

1. Glue the decorations in the front of the wood circle.
2. Glue the magnet on the back.

Heart

For the heart design, I use felt to make the heart. Add a small flower brach on the side of the heart and a sparkle in the middle of the heart. Then I glue the wooden peg.

Flower

I have a box of fabric flowers at home. I glue three flowers, one on top of the other, and add sparkle in the middle. Then I glue the wooden peg.

Bumble Bee

I have these cute bubble bee stickers at home. I add a small pine branch, a sticker, and a wooden peg.

Spring

This design is different than the other ones. I used a dry flower in the middle with a sparkle, a lavender branch, and pine needles.

As you can see, most of the materials I used for these easy-to-make eco-friendly Valentine’s crafts ideas were already at home or from natural findings. You can ask the kids to find different decorations or even create them.
