How to make a Vision Board

A Vision board is an excellent tool that includes words and images to help us focus on our goals and motivate us to manifest our desires, whether they involve personal growth, travel, or tangible things.

We have manifested many things using a vision board, like the first apartment when we got married with every detail that we had on the vision board or memorable trips to see other cultures, their history, and art. It worked like magic for us! As this year’s end approaches, it is the ideal time to embark on this creative journey again!

There are many ways of making a vision board. We have made different vision boards in our lives, from wall-mounted to digital ones, and we would love to share with you how we made them!

What does a vision board do?

The concept is simple: where we direct our focus, we can more likely manifest our goals. Looking at these sets of images and words redirects our vision, which can sometimes get lost in our daily routines. This practice inspires us, moving us toward the life we aspired to achieve.

When is the best time to make a vision board?

While many people choose to make vision boards before the start of a new year (it’s a great way to start a new year filled with goals and dreams!), there’s no specific time frame for creating one. Making a vision board is more about personal readiness and motivation than adhering to a particular calendar date. Feel free to update your board if needed throughout the journey!

What should I add to my vision board?

As for content, the possibilities are vast and customizable; here are some examples:

  • Dreams: We can include our dream house or travel to new places to discover the beauty of our planet.
  • Lifestyle Changes: Visualize positive shifts like healthier eating habits or starting yoga classes.
  • Hobbies: Maybe we would like to incorporate new activities where we can use our creativity, like nature photography or painting.
  • Family: We may want to include more quality time with loved ones.
  • Community: Dedicating time to volunteer in projects that benefit our community.
  • Professional goals: Maybe envisioning starting a business that contributes to a better future.
  • Abundance: Visualize having all the resources necessary to meet our needs and support others.
  • Wellness: Looking more after ourselves for a balanced, healthy, and harmonious life. This may include exercise or daily nature walks.

These suggestions are just a starting point; your vision board should be a reflection of your unique desires and aspirations. Personalize it to align with the life you envision for yourself. Usefull tips

Below we share some tips that have helped us when we are creating a vision board:

  1. There is something about writing our goals on paper that helps us to process the information in our minds better. Even if you make a digital vision board, always write your goals on paper first.
  2. I try not to live excessively in the future. Recognizing that becoming too absorbed in the future may lead to overlooking the present – the very foundation of creating my future. I look at my goals, work on them, and let the universe do its magic.
  3. Looking at it early in the morning and before going to bed, so I wake up with a positive set of mind and go to sleep dreaming of becoming true.
  4. This practice is around self-awareness; what we include in it is more about us, recognizing the importance of not interfering with the unique aspirations of each person.
  5. Its effectiveness varies for each individual.
  6. “I am” is a powerful expression, as it declares something about who you are or want to be, so use it wisely and with intention.

Vision Board Ideas

Wall-mounted Vision board: This version can be hung on the wall or placed discreetly behind your closet. Given its personal nature, I prefer to position it in a low-traffic area that’s easily accessible for my own daily contemplation.

  1. Write your goals on a paper.
  2. Collect images by cutting them from magazines or printing them from the computer.
  3. Place your images on materials such as cardboard, corkboard, magnetic board, or canvas of your choice.
  4. Incorporate affirmations accordingly (optional).
  5. Enhance the board with decorative elements you love, such as flowers, stickers, colors, and more.

Digital Vision Board: If you are inclined towards technology, creating a digital vision board is an excellent option. We can use cell phone applications or design apps to facilitate the process.

  1. Write your goals on a paper.
  2. Choose the application that suits your preferences.
  3. Incorporate relevant photos or videos onto the board.
  4. Integrate affirmations (optional), ensuring they are in larger fonts if you intend to view the board on your cellphone.
  5. Enhance the experience by adding music.
  6. Try to make the digital vision board around 2-3 minutes long.

Vision board on agenda: This is an excellent alternative for those who prefer a tangible vision board and are always on the go, avoiding the digital version.

  1. Create it at the back of your agenda or a frequently used workbook.
  2. Illustrate or include images that resonate with your goals.
  3. Incorporate affirmations (optional).
  4. Given the limited space, we can enhance the board with small details like stickers.

The most important thing is to make this a fun activity; remember, everything we create that focuses our minds on positive outcomes will bring us joy. Everything is within us; we are creative beings; create your own story!
